Received a note today from blogger - did I still want to keep my account? Can't blame them as one can't post once every 4 to 6 YEARS and expect to still keep it open.<br />
<br />
So, told them yes and I will try to write a bit every few days. So much has changed in our lives, actually almost everything has changed in our lives, so hold on to your bonnets and have a cup of tea and if you're still around, come enjoy chatting. <br />
<br />
One thing I will say, this is my blog - those of you who know me know I don't live with vulgarity, I'm conservative and believe we all have a voice and a right for the voice to be heard. You may not agree with what I think or believe, and that's just fine - you may leave. I will miss you but that's the greatest thing about this country, we all have the right to do and say what we believe. I believe it is my right to use my voice as long as I do not hurt anyone, for the same reason I am saying to you, if you do not agree with what I say, there are thousands, hundreds of thousands, of other blogs you may go and converse with those who will agree with you! How blessed we are to live in this wonderful and free country!<br />
<br />
In patriotic spirit, </div>

<br />
Oh my gosh, it's been so long since I've written, I'd almost forgotten how to get on, write and post to my blog!<br />
<br />
I have been so busy - I visited with family all over the country through October, and then began a series of oral surgeries. Why do we women always think, 'ah, not a big deal, I'll be up and around in a couple of days!' Really a good question - it's because WE ARE WOMEN!! When did we take time being sick, or lazy or down when our children, or even our grandchildren were really little - we didn't - unless we were half dead! Which may be the reason things hit us so hard now. But, I digress. The last surgery I had was a 3 hour bone graft 10 days ago. Doc explained, 'going to be taking bone from the back of your jaw and screwing it in here (showing me on ex-rays, like that's really English to me!) If we need to - we'll take some from the chin area - ack! Wait a minute, CHIN AREA??? Like - isn't that going to leave a bruise? 'Donna, you're going to have quite a bruise anyway, this is major surgery.' Hangs head - me, that is. Well, at least it was scheduled after all of my business meetings. My sweetie is still taking really good care of me. Tonight - Christmas night, I ate my first full meal - last one for a while because I'm in a lot of pain now, but it was yummy, and I did get to help cook most of it. We were able to laugh a bit throughout this entire process, no talking really because at first I sounded like Scooby Dooby Doo, then like Sylvester the Cat (still do when my mouth starts to hurt because my tongue swells badly.) But we go on - life is good, it's wonderful, today is the day our Lord and Savior was born to save us all!<br />
<br />
Our garden still has it's lovely visitors - even though we have had many nights at 25 degrees. Because we are so close to the coast, we still get many, many hummingbirds. They must know how much we love them, as we are still feeding them at the rate of - - - drum roll please - - - one half gallon of sugar water A DAY!! We have two feeders up, about 10' apart or so, and they love our home we have for them!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVIvc1NO7OjHKUJRkusB_vZFu99XDYvNFDd_jnUw9mnpQJHuFUfjZgfuegStTD0FMemNjT3sDUoykE_U4HPfXIMV9iRawT1r07G1PAA1GAqmyThgl2laZhOnhVnLNfPIeBU15SBFTm8w/s1600/Hummingbirds+2012+024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVIvc1NO7OjHKUJRkusB_vZFu99XDYvNFDd_jnUw9mnpQJHuFUfjZgfuegStTD0FMemNjT3sDUoykE_U4HPfXIMV9iRawT1r07G1PAA1GAqmyThgl2laZhOnhVnLNfPIeBU15SBFTm8w/s400/Hummingbirds+2012+024.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
It's really something to see so many birds feed in our yard, and then our neighbors for a block in all directions my get a stray bird once in a while. The only thing I can think it could be is water. They will not feed on tap water. Ours is reverse osmosis and they'll drink regular water if it is boiled, but most people won't take the time to do that for them. It's so worth it for us!<br />
<br />
We have about 2 months when we have no birds at all, and take the feeders down - usually January or so, then one will go up for a month around March, then the other goes up shortly after that. At first, we will get One male who will try to lay claim to the feeder - but when all come<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxpIOk4EeDxhYRQZuIieQYRu3Txhifasx7M4xV-ZK6kAqXFzs1HCo_O3Gr9GZDlhas3ck-3Pl7yvGNLvBb1p5NLCNJ5OjPI0i6QCHGZ9RdjQfXbTDNwvRN9gpiVYvy7h2Z6c_YpuJKWw/s1600/Hummingbirds+2012+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxpIOk4EeDxhYRQZuIieQYRu3Txhifasx7M4xV-ZK6kAqXFzs1HCo_O3Gr9GZDlhas3ck-3Pl7yvGNLvBb1p5NLCNJ5OjPI0i6QCHGZ9RdjQfXbTDNwvRN9gpiVYvy7h2Z6c_YpuJKWw/s400/Hummingbirds+2012+016.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
home, and hundreds are here, there is no room for bossy boys here! They say they come back to the same feeding area each year, and I must say, each year, we have had more and more birds. Feeding one half gallon of sugar water a day is feeding a lot of birds - and they are a joy to watch. These are the two feeders we have. The blurs are 'birds in flight!'<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have you all been keeping your crafts up? It's so much fun to create something with our hands! I've been making tons of journals. I love making them for gifts. I can't seem to find my folder that has all the photos, so here's the latest one I made. I made it for one of the ladies in our Daughters of the American Revolution chapter as a Christmas gift. I loved having a tree, symbolizing the 'family tree' aspect of the group!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then, as always, I have a crochet project in the works. My friend told me of this pattern, though she never knew the name. She said, 'all you do is double crochet 10, chain 10, until you have the length you want, then I'll show you how to twirl and tie it up.' You know me, I'm always game for something new, so I double crochet, chained 10 to what I felt was a comfortable width, and length - it looked like this - </div>

It's actually very pretty and looks as if it's braided strands and not twisted and brought through. <br />

The colors came out beautiful! The size was a bit smaller than I first thought it would be, but never making it and not having much to go on, it's great. My next one will be twice the size, as this is just for one. But, it was given today to my newest granddaughter - my grandson was recently married and they are expecting their little wee one on March. This will keep her nice and toasty. The fringe was a new one for me, a triple knot. I really like it, for fringe. Only on one end. I prefer no fringe because it always tickles or makes me think something is crawling on my neck when I'm sleeping. But, it was a gift, so I fancied it up. I read a pattern on Pinterest some time back and they had a variation of this as a ripple and called it Jacob's Ladder.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also done a bit of sewing. My little Wee One, Leila, asked for a Yoshi blanket for her gift. So how does one make a Yoshi - well, first buy the material, then take it all to Colorado to my daughter there and ask her to help! My son married an Angel and she sews like a professional, so she helped me. Son made the Yoshi pattern, I cut, daughter did sewing - a family affair!</div>

She loves it Auntie Kim!! Thanks Uncle Jeff for helping, too! And yes, each piece is sewn on separately! It was a lot of pieces, a lot of work, I can't thank Kim enough as she has this beautiful, professional sewing machine that really hit the mark! <br />
<br />
These are my kids who do costuming professionally. She does the sewing of costumes of fabrics and leathers,<br />

And, so with that my good blogging buddies, as Yoshi to the right is ready to say good bye for now - I promise it won't be another 4 months before I stop back by. I do get by to see many of your blogs, but have just not had time, as you read to leave messages.<br />
<br />
<br />
May God bless each and every one of you, keep you safe, loved and forever thankful we live in the greatest country in the world. <br />
<br />
For those who have soldiers away from home, God bless you and them. Thank them and thank you for your service to our country. Without them standing on the front lines, keeping our liberty and freedom, and you all keeping the home fires burning, we would not live in the greatest country any longer. God bless you all.<br />
<br />
May you all have a wonderful, healthy, and Happy New Year! May it be all you want it to be, bring you the happiness you deserve, the prosperity you work for and the health our Lord bestows on you. This new year I look forward to better health, a brand new Great Granddaughter (Grandson and new Granddaughter will be having her in March) and a wonderful new year. <br />

Blessings and hugs,<br />

OK, OK ~ This isn't what you thought by the title, but I couldn't help it! It just fit!!!<br />
<br />
So, I've shown you "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" parts 1 & 2, and I had a really great time, most of the time - Didn't really like chasing dogs half asleep (me - not the dogs!) because that was the best form of exercise, or for a good time first thing in the morning (because it wasn't!) However, I loved taking care of the wee ones and cooking!<br />
<br />
When Mom and Dad got home from their vacation, oh - did I mention they spent one week in Spain and one week in Italy? Well, they did, and the photos they sent back were spectacular! The countryside in both countries was beautiful, the museums, the Cathedrals! Magnificent!! Stunning photos, and even a few of them thrown in - and they are a handsome couple! They were smart and took private tours and said it was worth every penny! Best way to see a country, or even states, we're not familiar with!<br />
<br />
Grandpa, for all his efforts - taking me shopping before I went, helping me pack, taking care of the house and garden in my absence, and missing me a lot (I missed him, too!) received these beautiful Italian Gloves!<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMjUwdU4WcuoYiJ0ZKOAUGLaNSUEcXI8hugOtxiDndupxzJlpyJVVr1-O6cuDVMVTEOZePrYxFH_iUR1ZVxcve6HQSzdcjFAAAK5LNw_KfgDTjBeHaFCt5_L2xYQWJUtt-KFWb1G3F2w/s1600/Italian+gifts+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMjUwdU4WcuoYiJ0ZKOAUGLaNSUEcXI8hugOtxiDndupxzJlpyJVVr1-O6cuDVMVTEOZePrYxFH_iUR1ZVxcve6HQSzdcjFAAAK5LNw_KfgDTjBeHaFCt5_L2xYQWJUtt-KFWb1G3F2w/s400/Italian+gifts+004.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And, The Glove Fits!! Beautiful brown leather gloves, purchased in Italy!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrNv8lTxD97k-AEZujnjF0MBDueeYwG_K1PGyEgqwamHUrT4y5ZxqLyhI246cvoIPZYMyrXaLyNK0TIceossPejq6x6NuPlTCWMBgqqshRDVyCinvFB9oS1GFAb2L4lzrxvW4jwWFnKA/s1600/Italian+gifts+005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrNv8lTxD97k-AEZujnjF0MBDueeYwG_K1PGyEgqwamHUrT4y5ZxqLyhI246cvoIPZYMyrXaLyNK0TIceossPejq6x6NuPlTCWMBgqqshRDVyCinvFB9oS1GFAb2L4lzrxvW4jwWFnKA/s400/Italian+gifts+005.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Sure will keep him warm in the cold weather of winter!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH0ExV1q16QLgeg8Sr7as66mk9xjz05hi7jEZU3_8KkLTI0GzkEQYFzpAcLH1w-oCeSOm7m34xewbrV_NPCcLjTZsL2QX2toweCULj6cB725NRnbS9tTmEGv4dXIcVYi6n7OF-n265-g/s1600/Italian+gifts+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH0ExV1q16QLgeg8Sr7as66mk9xjz05hi7jEZU3_8KkLTI0GzkEQYFzpAcLH1w-oCeSOm7m34xewbrV_NPCcLjTZsL2QX2toweCULj6cB725NRnbS9tTmEGv4dXIcVYi6n7OF-n265-g/s400/Italian+gifts+006.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And, very nice for driving, too!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
They took private tours of both the Sistine Chapel and saw the works of Michelangelo! Something I can only imagine and take that tour online! They said it was MAGNIFICENT!!! And, by taking the private tour, they saw things you wouldn't normally see - so if anyone is planning a trip to Italy, and you want to see it, they highly recommend paying the extra dollars for this tour.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiEx_O41pXUwcbXfZp-d0p8yyNaDnfPVIvyjjQA1tvas086OoMfW2-TiGQnLAvT2JGaKNa7WKozA9fLFyc5d_Nuoxkad31VMHjDd8AjVwZNgU2lTW9t0dFpiPJRYOPqGfXnvqiMAw6XA/s1600/Italian+gifts+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiEx_O41pXUwcbXfZp-d0p8yyNaDnfPVIvyjjQA1tvas086OoMfW2-TiGQnLAvT2JGaKNa7WKozA9fLFyc5d_Nuoxkad31VMHjDd8AjVwZNgU2lTW9t0dFpiPJRYOPqGfXnvqiMAw6XA/s400/Italian+gifts+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
When they spent time in the Vatican, they stopped in the Vatican Gift Shop and purchased my new Rosary and this beautiful box with the carving of the Virgin Mother and Baby Jesus. I've had many Rosary's - I was given my Baba's 2, one that he prayed daily with, and a very large wooden one given to him by a Priest, and others that belonged to family elders. But the only one I ever was given to me as mine personally was a plastic one given to me when I made my 1st Holy Communion and this one. This is absolutely beautiful. Many don't understand this as a beautiful object, Catholics not only see the beauty of it, but know the significance of it. The box, when opened plays a tune I am unfamiliar with, I will ask a dear friend what it is.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I will keep these by my bedside always and thank my lovely daughter in law and son. Thank you both so much, both mean a great deal to me!<br />
<br />
That's it for this evening. <br />
<br />
Blessings everyone!<br />

So, for two weeks, the children and I did what Grandma's and grand kids do, I cooked, they ate and played. When I have the opportunity to stay with them, I love to cook for them. Like my own Granny, for me, cooking and feeding the family is my love to them, or for them, an expression of love you might say ~<br />
<br />
So, I shopped before going over and had the opportunity to put up many items so when my daughter in law runs late with kids going here and there one night, or just needs some help one night - she can reach in and grab something already made - meatloaves (of course!), Minestrone Soup frozen in many sizes, Navy Bean and Ham Soup, in many sizes (so my daughter could grab a size for lunches for herself!), Chicken Cordon Bleu, Chicken Parmesan, Zucchini Bread (sliced before freezing), lots of pancakes and waffles. Just made double or triple the amounts of dinners I made for the children, then put up a family meal in a "Food Saver" bag - gotta love those!!<br />
<br />
And then there were our family derelicts -<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAYFm8l88Hgz5wnPek3Xeml5qK4kuIS7npQDTjBJO9qcSM2cjxY8i77E8dgbjKU1_PHsSk5EXtS88ouBtyy0y0qkwkyOZKtqNLBPWWEoW1_tZfvOKY4EO-GdgjMBnpG97aehUFAWB4qg/s1600/The+three+mischiefs+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAYFm8l88Hgz5wnPek3Xeml5qK4kuIS7npQDTjBJO9qcSM2cjxY8i77E8dgbjKU1_PHsSk5EXtS88ouBtyy0y0qkwkyOZKtqNLBPWWEoW1_tZfvOKY4EO-GdgjMBnpG97aehUFAWB4qg/s400/The+three+mischiefs+003.jpg" width="281" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lucy - THE DIGGER</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The Digger - Lucy - who can dig a hole under the fence a be gone before I could run to the bathroom and get back to let her back in! She found the muddiest place in the development to get full of mud before I found her!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilKJMZ7q6OnwjSVSoSmY4tAvs5r_-5DsUE8RUx2S9hlxUOx8DaFQyhCReuRnFH7Xvd6Ia2wO6G6oAyCvvis0cpdHEuldRxM-2w0x-0sMWRPKBGvcu8dXkS9bIuUdvZ8RaTgSAu2L7CVQ/s1600/The+three+mischiefs+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilKJMZ7q6OnwjSVSoSmY4tAvs5r_-5DsUE8RUx2S9hlxUOx8DaFQyhCReuRnFH7Xvd6Ia2wO6G6oAyCvvis0cpdHEuldRxM-2w0x-0sMWRPKBGvcu8dXkS9bIuUdvZ8RaTgSAu2L7CVQ/s400/The+three+mischiefs+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Molly - THE FETCHER</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Then there's Molly - yea, look at that face - but don't let her fool you - she waits for Lucy to dig out, and me to go running after Lucy - then comes in and makes that hole a bit bigger and takes a nice long walk! When she a Lucy get out together, it's like herding cats! <br />
<br />
Molly loves to play catch, too. She runs after the ball and brings it and puts it right into my hands. She was a great one to play with - but still - an escapee!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Scout - LOVES SCOUTY TREATS!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Last, but not least, Scout. She's a boxer. All muscle, but a tad lazy. No fetching here, just "Snacks please" - can you see that question when she look at you, too? So, since she never went under the fence to escape - extra treats for Scouty!<br />
<br />
After two weeks away from my home, sleeping in my own bed feels marvelous! Instead of the little arm, or little leg throwing over my body from the little octopus sleeping with me - I'm home sleeping next to my wonderful sweetie. I sure love my wee ones, but I sure missed Grandpa! Home to my garden, my birds, my home!<br />
<br />
Home only two days - then a jaunt to the Los Angeles area for a DAR trip ~ which I will show you in my next post!<br />
<br />
Til then, I hope this week is a marvelous one for all of you! Have fun, stay cool, love on the kids and grand kids!<br />
<br />
Blessings dear friends,<br />
Hugs,<br />

Ahhh - remember going back to school and the first essay, story, paper - what ever your teacher called it - was "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" - remember way back when ? ? ? Well, I do! I remember spending time with Granny and Baba, who I adored and spoiled me (just a little)! And, the opportunity to go to the Girl Scouts 2 Mile Walk and Sleep Over in the 4th grade - my only childhood occasion to try, eat, eat, eat and eat smores!! Oh, they were so good!!! Two weeks camping in Yosemite and seeing the firefalls each night (yeah, I'm that old)! Or, how about, "What Good Books I Read During Summer Vacation?" Are you kidding, reading books? OK - I was one of those nerdy kids who did read - I loved to read, and still do!<br />
<br />
So here's part 1 of "How I Spent My Summer Vacation." My son and daughter in law took a 2 WEEK trip Spain and Italy! How grand is that - OK no, I did not get to go - but I got something better - I got to spend the entire two weeks with my wee ones. And, you all know how I love spending time with my grandchildren. The oldest two are 22 and 19 this year, so grandparents aren't THAT important any more! he he he - Actually, having two different sets of grandchildren has been kind sweet - best of both worlds I think. I had quality time with the older boys when they were growing up (way too fast) and now these three (time is still going by too fast!!!)<br />

<br />
Week One - Isaac and Elise go off to camp. This is a Christian Camp and it was up in the Sugar Pines area of Yosemite. What a beautiful National Park (and Wonder of the World) it is. Look at these happy campers on the way to camp!<br />

Well, we'll be back in a day or two for "How I Spent My Summer Vacation -Part 2!"<br />

Hope you are all enjoying what's left of your summer vacation! Some have already gone back, some next week! What ever happened to going back AFTER Labor Day???? Oh Yeah - - - I remember - - -<br />

You all know how I love our Hummingbirds! Well, we've been a bit worried we may have lost their homing in on our home because of a new development being built behind us. And, for the first couple of months of the season, we had a few birds - but this last week, we went from feeding 1 quart of syrup each week to 1 quart of syrup A DAY!! Yes, you read correctly - a quart a week - to a quart a day!!<br />

Next year we hope to have a spraying fountain with mist for them to bathe in and a butterfly bath and feeder. Well, I know where I am now! Home!! Praise the Lord. I have been away from home for much of the last month, without my sweetie. It's been busy for both of us, a tad lonely being away from him and home, but fun as I spent time with my little wee ones and then friends. I'm home for about a week, then fly out again for two weeks. But, my next trip, I hope to have time to leave blog posts.<br />
<br />
Thank you to all of my dear friends who sent messages asking if I was OK, my Sweetie was OK, if my home was OK? Thank You, Thank You, and yes ~ everything is wonderful! Just much busier than I like it to be.<br />
<br />
I have some photos I would love to share ~ I'm working on a post for tomorrow. So for now - it's good to be home, good too sleep in my own bed, and end each day with a kiss to my sweetheart!<br />
<br />
Hope you've all been well, happy, cool and blessed!<br />

Grandma's and granddaughters in the kitchen ~ is there anything better to hand down in a family but home made love from the kitchen? I loved being with my Granny, and I love when my girls want to help!<br />
<br />
While mom and dad are vacationing in Europe, we are with the children. The two older children actually went off to camp this week, so Wee One and I have had a blast 'just hanging out' and having a great old time!<br />
<br />
You all know one of my favorite things to do is creating in the kitchen, and I've shown you bits and pieces of our garden. One of the kids, big and little kids, favorites is Grandma's special recipe of Zucchini Bread. Here's the first bread sized zucchini from our garden!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9wdAgts-o7dsIwbHEMdAHKSFeIHzqDyhaqhbSPJatAgL8MC8QzzqPqut_zgsEZwNRvA-7M3ZekqOZ6W_5vtvylgiVkLaLMGRBBWcE0qP9pg9QkgkLmooqzYQqi9P88h6sjzxyjk7-Kg/s1600/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9wdAgts-o7dsIwbHEMdAHKSFeIHzqDyhaqhbSPJatAgL8MC8QzzqPqut_zgsEZwNRvA-7M3ZekqOZ6W_5vtvylgiVkLaLMGRBBWcE0qP9pg9QkgkLmooqzYQqi9P88h6sjzxyjk7-Kg/s400/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This guy came in at 4 pounds 9.75 ounces! And it made a total of 6 loaves of bread, 12 cups total of shredded zucchini! And, this little gal helped with the entire process ~<br />

Measuring the dry ingredients (yea, we got a little goofy!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7qZFrRJzrSzB3KFm00sZFVFWtyENDcPwFuBEQIhaMl4OX-8nm5GWxiAI23hArDiOsupoXNxT4hyphenhyphenw2KP5KSPiMT-6F2lDOMpUCT-6-RlNEXSSUPB7JPxe68LGvfifdyriQuECFeLsTiw/s1600/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7qZFrRJzrSzB3KFm00sZFVFWtyENDcPwFuBEQIhaMl4OX-8nm5GWxiAI23hArDiOsupoXNxT4hyphenhyphenw2KP5KSPiMT-6F2lDOMpUCT-6-RlNEXSSUPB7JPxe68LGvfifdyriQuECFeLsTiw/s400/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+011.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
OK - we added the zucchini and dry ingredients - then got serious - "hey, Grandma, doesn't this look like zucchini puke?" Yea, maybe we got a little goofier!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqGH3ukY85gkRwa7qXAABVeioYuAE3qtl3ur5AerkkWEFOQJ3fXBYETKjiy_4x2gbk0Mv2w0a2BsgpsqeDh6CRA7IHUQj8SSiDMgsytUtrNKSFzonqgrFNoZAb5TuqORJk2LphgAOPaQ/s1600/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqGH3ukY85gkRwa7qXAABVeioYuAE3qtl3ur5AerkkWEFOQJ3fXBYETKjiy_4x2gbk0Mv2w0a2BsgpsqeDh6CRA7IHUQj8SSiDMgsytUtrNKSFzonqgrFNoZAb5TuqORJk2LphgAOPaQ/s400/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+016.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We stirred, stirred, stirred, never even complained once, not even spilling a drop on the floor, t-shirt, a girl after my own heart! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5szGfr0rV6aT__F6t3VZCyzWDWkr-5Q1UK9C9cUcLI8tLnI0LbuxNwnHxmBSiK1bg7Qldk8APK8u23_-dwyE-xMb5LvEDlYQXBmA-KmyMOQj6AlaOGVfPKSFWx0HRFhyFgesog0t4-w/s1600/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5szGfr0rV6aT__F6t3VZCyzWDWkr-5Q1UK9C9cUcLI8tLnI0LbuxNwnHxmBSiK1bg7Qldk8APK8u23_-dwyE-xMb5LvEDlYQXBmA-KmyMOQj6AlaOGVfPKSFWx0HRFhyFgesog0t4-w/s400/First+Zucchini+Bread+of+2012+015.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then she looked at me very serious and said, "remember what the special ingredient is?" 'Yes, I do ~ do you?' "Yep, stir in my love with my finger!"<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">I've always told the kids is my secret ingredient is love, by sticking my finger in and giving the recipe a good stir! </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">6 yummy loaves of bread, with lots of love in them, and a great time in the kitchen! Being a grandma is one of the most precious things God blessed me with ~ 5 wonderful grandchildren!</span><br />
<br />
Blessings to all,<br />

Boy, we all prayed for some sunny, warm weather for so long, and then it happened! A heat wave that started in the Eastern States and spread all the way to the Pacific Ocean. For those of us with gardens, we are really happy because it makes everything grow so well. At least certain plants, tomatoes, peppers, squash of every variety and so on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1LC_t7zPJVRteQwUkLl1qO1TTITdJ_UoUtmLfGyX3UtKSZDxvXblUKefLZy-3ZynArlNS8xrXky4W4IWfrkfOWtDn0GMjOcMv2qLWuxztFCFF8SjPrAbDoD7xUpVcqCaQ0Rn27V-ovg/s1600/2012+garden+in+June+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1LC_t7zPJVRteQwUkLl1qO1TTITdJ_UoUtmLfGyX3UtKSZDxvXblUKefLZy-3ZynArlNS8xrXky4W4IWfrkfOWtDn0GMjOcMv2qLWuxztFCFF8SjPrAbDoD7xUpVcqCaQ0Rn27V-ovg/s400/2012+garden+in+June+016.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Here are our winter squash, peas and beans in June a few weeks after we planted them. We were so happy they had grown so well in just a couple of weeks, but unlike the middle of the country to the Atlantic Seaboard, we were only seeing occasional 'hot' days and remained in the 70's and 80's for the most part. <br />
<br />
We planted 3 Butternut and 2 Spaghetti Squash plants, and in between the beans and peas. Yes, everyone has asked the same question - "Why so many plants?" Well, because one year one plant gave us so much we had to give them to everyone we knew and the following two years, well one of them? Not a squash to be found. They would shrivel up and die before they could grow! The following year, could not buy a Spaghetti Squash plant anywhere because the weather was cold too late in the season, and the Butternut Squash was barely enough to get through the winter, eating one squash every two weeks or so.<br />
<br />
This year however, we will be giving them away once again! We have literally hundreds of squash, both Spaghetti, already the size of footballs, and Butternut, which are growing a bit slower, thank goodness. What we are afraid of now is the Spaghetti squash splitting before it has a chance to dry on the vine. So if anyone out there knows how to hasten the process, please email me!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-HyyZAs5FdFK58spxpDF-XB53DeW2yzAloUcpyB8sdctAtv5ENvtwKM3Z6jOfKOErFdQjzQ0JLr1u14L580rQ-D48-7OXTn0Tb8G0eViD2b8Ar0Q7_dwQJ2pjLKQkSW0GY7PJGSC4Gw/s1600/squash+and+peas+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-HyyZAs5FdFK58spxpDF-XB53DeW2yzAloUcpyB8sdctAtv5ENvtwKM3Z6jOfKOErFdQjzQ0JLr1u14L580rQ-D48-7OXTn0Tb8G0eViD2b8Ar0Q7_dwQJ2pjLKQkSW0GY7PJGSC4Gw/s400/squash+and+peas+001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="background-color: white;">Here are the plants now, and this is after several trimmings. We keep trimming it every time it grows in to the lawn, or out under the fence! What a difference 4 weeks and 20 to 30 degrees hotter makes! We go out and push the plants towards the middle away from the lawn at night, and every morning it's crept back out. Like it's got little legs! But, we'll have plenty of winter squash this year, basically all winter long!</span><br />
<br />
Tomorrow I'll show you one of our Zucchinis - we're really excited about growing some of our own veggies! When we lived in the Monterey/Salinas area, there wasn't enough heat or sun to grow much of anything but herbs. So we are still learning! <br />
<br />
Is anyone else growing a garden this year? What did you plant, and how is it doing? We'd really like to know, <b style="font-style: italic;">"How does your garden grow?" </b>You knew that was coming, right!?<br />
<br />
Blessings,<br />

I so enjoy crafting and making cards! One of my DAR Sisters fell and fractured her ankle and was hospitalized a few days, now spending time in a Rehabilitation Facility to help her get back on her feet a bit faster. I made this pretty little Journal for her. <br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I thought a journal would be nice for her to be able to write daily notes, keep track of visitors, cards and flowers or gifts!<br />
<br />
These flowers are again from Wild Orchards and are two toned with a deep rich burgundy while the rose goes from dark to light pink<br />
<br />
Thought it was pretty, but needed a kick of color - when I used the burgundy velvet it was too little, when I used the big pink it looked too plain BUT together Wallah! <br />

Hard to see here, but I also added a nice long piece of ribbon as a book mark or place mark. I glued it in by bending both front and back covers together poured a bit of glue down the books middle behind the binding.<br />

<span style="background-color: white;">This card started out as a 12x12" piece of K & Company card stock. I cut 3" on the top off, folded it in half, then covered the bird with Glossy Accents. It already came glittered and had a bit of resist on the bird and the floral design, but wanted more on the bird.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLA9iOISmYu8hyphenhyphenOOJYPv83ucmTD4kquGTn_rDykq-bU-irae7aghVjCI4R5yw-A60I_OZHvAWOw5xmBZUnz0r1lulOGyWN_EuedexyAUZsgU4M7RD_vhgvLuub1smGen512Od37Mjqpg/s1600/July+2012+cards+and+gifts+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLA9iOISmYu8hyphenhyphenOOJYPv83ucmTD4kquGTn_rDykq-bU-irae7aghVjCI4R5yw-A60I_OZHvAWOw5xmBZUnz0r1lulOGyWN_EuedexyAUZsgU4M7RD_vhgvLuub1smGen512Od37Mjqpg/s320/July+2012+cards+and+gifts+001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">Next I took Wild Honey Distress Ink (Tim Holtz) and inked up the entire front of the card and love the way the ink resisted the bird and design!</span><br />

<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">I had to use some of my new Magnolia flowers I just received from Wild Orchard Flowers! They are really beautiful! Glued a leaf around each one, made a little birdie nest with two baby birds looking for Mama (and dinner) matched a piece of Bazzill card stock that matched perfectly to the ink (I always ink up the sides all around my cards, too.) </span><br />
<br />

I used embroidery thread to thread a tag I had a friend make for me and cut on top and bottom of the beak so it looks as if the bird is actually holding it in her beak! Always need a bit of ribbon, but on the neutral side. Lined the card with another piece of card stock to insert our personal Happy Birthday message for a dear friend!<br />

Even Mama bird knows we need to teach our young ones, "Life Is Sweet!" Happy Birthday, Jan, for making our lives a bit sweeter, just by knowing you!<br />
<br />
Tomorrow I'd love to show you a card I'm finishing up for our doctor. I also have something special I'm working on for a DAR Sister who injured herself, broke her ankle and now in a rehab facility - Ouch!<br />

Hugs,<br />

I cannot believe it has been a week since my last post! A couple of wonderful friends wrote and asked if I was doing OK, if the family was well, was everything going alright? Yes, yes and yes! I've just been really busy and time, literally just flew by!<br />
<br />
A lot has happened in all our lives! Does it seem to anyone else, the older we get, the faster time goes by? I remember family elders saying that, and of course when we were kids we thought anyone as old as are parents didn't know what they're talking about! When we were teenagers, time went by so slowly we could hardly wait to get out of the house! Oh, but then came the rat race of college, working, families, and we all thought, "Ah, as soon as they're raised we'll be able to relax and enjoy life!"<br />
<br />
So, here we are and time seems to go by so fast, it almost feels like we're on a fast train! All these sights keep just keep going by, or we by them, so fast! I thought of that when Don called me to look out our living room window two evenings ago to see this view ~ "Honey come look at this!"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMKHp0JVzL9JRccaYWRnC6aYxWeeX9gRDsDHYozxf9OsTiIyWUyf3bSooWt1hhn4zk31Y7CxNoe-XhfTM8SvGWOLwob40DZi8Fh-RSkYI5YCMy-tMC2p82NIuStZKPG34IrbUfpCQIvQ/s1600/July+15+sunset+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMKHp0JVzL9JRccaYWRnC6aYxWeeX9gRDsDHYozxf9OsTiIyWUyf3bSooWt1hhn4zk31Y7CxNoe-XhfTM8SvGWOLwob40DZi8Fh-RSkYI5YCMy-tMC2p82NIuStZKPG34IrbUfpCQIvQ/s400/July+15+sunset+001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I ran out quickly to take this photo! Isn't this sunset incredible!? We must slow down and notice the small blessings in our lives, and this is one of them!<br />
<br />
I'll be back tomorrow, I would love to share some of the cards and journals I've been making. I'll be by to visit all of my blogging buddies tomorrow, too. Right now, just know I think of you all often and keep all of you in my prayers!<br />
<br />
Hugs,<br />

OK Any one else notice blogging is taking longer to do? Longer to post, longer to leave a message, longer, longer and then POOF! A comment we left for a friend on their blog is gone!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM2A48MAIso_OxYhL6XKunhxKGmpiZqasa4CeBvLw0IbDIE2_fUJs2x9Eyp2wqCxIDbnxuav9v23ER0AeTPYrdihiGNC0MJn4Hyr3TLxRfRpdn1aVNcGFxJfklWaizs8QMW6h3PjfnEg/s1600/Donkey+Smiles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM2A48MAIso_OxYhL6XKunhxKGmpiZqasa4CeBvLw0IbDIE2_fUJs2x9Eyp2wqCxIDbnxuav9v23ER0AeTPYrdihiGNC0MJn4Hyr3TLxRfRpdn1aVNcGFxJfklWaizs8QMW6h3PjfnEg/s400/Donkey+Smiles.jpg" width="367" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I have felt a lot like this guy lately! Hee haw! My blog was switched to the new Blogger format way back when it was introduced, I had a ton of trouble trying to do the everyday things I had just learned on regular blogger. So, I worked at it and finally felt like I was getting along fine. Then the whole thing with Chrome verses regular Blogger came up. My sweetie got me all set up with that and I'm finally use to it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpP35L-mNIKhEInHa9wm2rGakO-1w90mJ8I1YMkjLlUB3pfH0a084fIjdmlcMwsWQtUuYJPY7yKsLPG5yKMsarN1kN9rOlX4Y7oIAQRy5i4NhcKlenapBlm-koER6DJkjurOXis4iGUQ/s1600/kodak.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpP35L-mNIKhEInHa9wm2rGakO-1w90mJ8I1YMkjLlUB3pfH0a084fIjdmlcMwsWQtUuYJPY7yKsLPG5yKMsarN1kN9rOlX4Y7oIAQRy5i4NhcKlenapBlm-koER6DJkjurOXis4iGUQ/s320/kodak.jpg" width="288" /></a></div>
I've even been able to get my photos on faster and easier - well by mistake, actually. I accidentally double clicked on the photo I wanted and it loaded lickity split! Easy Peasy! Another notch in my belt. Now another problem the past couple of weeks, going to leave comments for friends and up pops 'select profile' - O K - select my profile and my message is gone. At first I figured it was saved and went on my way. Then a few of my friends we missing me as I hadn't left a message in several days, not like me. But I had!! There must be a million posts, pictures and messages out in blogger outer space!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid6b7pRgt9y9x_xU804XlB2t4Q4PlCJkjowhu1S7PeWvsHBjIrgm2AhKoRRY0tRu36zIGmm59oSeKamMyf_745wNpDkQg_baoBlIJaF3AQEtfjPoH6YmbEuUcQR_qOOSRa3qMDSlD-tQ/s1600/hat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid6b7pRgt9y9x_xU804XlB2t4Q4PlCJkjowhu1S7PeWvsHBjIrgm2AhKoRRY0tRu36zIGmm59oSeKamMyf_745wNpDkQg_baoBlIJaF3AQEtfjPoH6YmbEuUcQR_qOOSRa3qMDSlD-tQ/s320/hat.jpg" width="249" /></a></div>
So I had to put on my thinking cap - pretty nice one, hug? Now what I've figured out is for what ever reason, I need to not just refresh my page, but sign out - sign back in and then I'm ready to roll. So - for my sweet friends who missed me, 'THANK YOU' for letting me know, for asking. Maybe this will help someone else. I think it's a bother, and always wonder what is going to pop up next?<br />
<br />
I had a friend ask how much time I spend a day blogging, because it's very easy to just get lost in here. So I have to stay on track or I loose track of time! I'm finding everyone is weighing these issues, too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

For those of you who are very computer literate, I'm very happy for you that you don't ever have any of these problems. For those who confided in me that you have the same kinds of things going on - we're all here to help each other.<br />
<br />
Cutest thing happened to me today! I was out giving all my plants a drink of Miracle Grow. A pair of Hummingbirds who are nesting in the tree on the side of our hill came and took turns taking a sprinkle shower from the hose! You all know how much I love these little guys! No camera, and because it was so hot, all the windows were closed so I couldn't call Don to come take my picture with them!<br />

First one would come and shower for a bit, then the mama would come and shower - I stretched my hand to her and she came over to see if I had a gift for her. Next time I'm out, I'm carrying my camera and some oranges or yarn for her!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Well, it's late, and with all the yard work today, the heat and oops - I forgot to freeze the peaches - need to do that first thing in the morning!! Thank you to the Graphics Fairy and June at Dezinaworld for the images I used here. I'm off for a cup of tea before jumping in bed!<br />

Well pretty darn good right now! Hot weather is supposed to be coming - a one of these days! The last two weeks the weather guessers have been saying, "Winds will be dying down and the weather will be warming up 10 degrees tomorrow, 10 degrees the day after and we'll be in triple digits in a few days!" Still not happening, but our garden is doing pretty good in spite of only 80's (all of the plants we put in are for hot weather!)<br />
<br />
Here's what we have so far - and we're happier than can be with it!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Butternut Squash - 3 bushes - and so far I've counted about 40 babies like this and a ton of flowers! We just enjoyed our last one from last year's crop!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Spaghetti Squash!! It's growing like crazy this year! Remember last year, last Spring when it stayed so darned cold and Spring just passed us by? Nobody had much success with this plant because we had so many late frosts, it killed them all! I quickly counted this evening - hold your headbands ladies - 25 already with a ton of flowers and this is the first wave!!</div>

<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">Zucchini Squash! Yeah!! It's been growing like crazy! We've been enjoying stir fried veggies now for a couple weeks, given a few away - and can't wait to grow a couple of boats for bread. Looks like we'll have another bumper crop, which is a good thing - we're down to the last 10 or so loaves and that's the family favorite!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yellow Crook Neck Squash - well of the two plants, one is straight, one is crook neck! Planted together in the same pot - love them both so no matter!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our first baby Bell Pepper!! Think this is a red one. The one on the left isn't making it so I'll need to take it off, but I hope you can see the one in the middle? These plants are small and not growing vigorously - they need the HEAT!!! We are still finishing up our peppers I froze last year! So, these will be ready just in time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmvO9Sm3h_gHnMbel0iYxSh7Sfrf1oIQIKmqIhL2SWMuttyZmXdyAHIE3jCmW9i6xZapllsvZi_5RhO8yXkPjWvCshl1AiokpEboow4olnItHJ1njLUUBlFp5-V5YNpT-pkwIr0ods1A/s1600/Garden+7-6-12+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmvO9Sm3h_gHnMbel0iYxSh7Sfrf1oIQIKmqIhL2SWMuttyZmXdyAHIE3jCmW9i6xZapllsvZi_5RhO8yXkPjWvCshl1AiokpEboow4olnItHJ1njLUUBlFp5-V5YNpT-pkwIr0ods1A/s320/Garden+7-6-12+015.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last but not least this evening, our tomato plant. We chose a Patio Tomato because it stays a bit more compact. Only one plant this year. We've found more than one produces so many, we thought we'd stick with only the one this year - and it's already been providing tomatoes. I hope you can see it even has tons on it already and it's still a baby. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7lHKpWeWWArnuKnKoo8GkRjl7lRplm0tDYG-o_yjsRKdAKsWq4UPNKyR_L2RaA1t0oWrVagT79EbIt017w9dQOWIfhzRHseaylJKQJCNO3dDIPwvKrj7acYbu316YuGgX31-CL9blNg/s1600/Garden+7-6-12+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7lHKpWeWWArnuKnKoo8GkRjl7lRplm0tDYG-o_yjsRKdAKsWq4UPNKyR_L2RaA1t0oWrVagT79EbIt017w9dQOWIfhzRHseaylJKQJCNO3dDIPwvKrj7acYbu316YuGgX31-CL9blNg/s320/Garden+7-6-12+016.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If I get adventurous next year, maybe I'll plant my Yellow Pear and Beefsteak Tomatoes, some Jalapenos, and the herbs needed for salsa and can some for the year! We'll see - we're just at the beginning of this season! I forgot to take photos of the beets and carrots! The tops are about 4" high already. Probably should thin them out, but I hate to toss out those babies! Those are growing in large pots this season - a new one for us!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So ~ that's how my garden is growing, so far! With 3 Butternut, 2 Spaghetti, 2 Zucchini, 2 Yellow Squash plants (last year was not so proliferating as this year has even started out!), 4 sets of Peas in two mounds (again, last year didn't yield but 10 or so ALL SUMMER!!!) 3 Bell Pepper (red, yellow, orange) - always great to freeze, and 1 Tomato, along with the Fruit trees Blueberries, Beets, Carrots and Herbs so far- we should have a fair crop. Lots to put up, lots to give away and share with friends and family!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If you have a garden, please let me know so I can pop by and see how your's is growing!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Have a wonderful weekend, Ladies!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Blessings,</div>

I hope everyone enjoyed our lovely 4th of July! What an honor we have in our country, I think the greatest country in the world, to freely celebrate our National Independence! <br />

<br />
Our Nation is so very blessed! We wake up every day, go to the job of our choice, make as much money as we want to work hard to acquire, provide for our families in the manner in which we would like. We are schooled for free until we graduate from High School, able to attend a number of different trade schools, colleges or universities - that in and of itself is tremendous! How many people came, and are still coming, some at great cost both monetarily and physically, just for that right alone?<br />
<br />
Let's face it, almost every one of us has an immigrant background! But at the end of the day, whether we have become Naturalized or born here, WE ARE AMERICANS!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It's up to all of us, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, all of us, to teach our little ones exactly what this means. We have freedom and liberty today because of the brave men signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that they would loose <u style="font-weight: bold;">every thing they owned, every one they loved, their very lives!</u><br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></u><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqODdLsDv4lUuyJvMxH45t8orAwaxHJXiIZcscjdzzQ4cBMDahT9cJ3lGuv-_WSdbuCBVwTurHEy5t5CHLtvCIzbPl8UvBVH_ZYjsQhBSNUFZeeBWTbnxWWkChb1-NR25MM6GVky6BYA/s1600/DeclarationIndependence.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqODdLsDv4lUuyJvMxH45t8orAwaxHJXiIZcscjdzzQ4cBMDahT9cJ3lGuv-_WSdbuCBVwTurHEy5t5CHLtvCIzbPl8UvBVH_ZYjsQhBSNUFZeeBWTbnxWWkChb1-NR25MM6GVky6BYA/s320/DeclarationIndependence.jpg" width="276" /></a></div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></u><br />
<br />
Every single man who sign this document, that some would crumble up and throw away, died horrible deaths, lost their love ones, wives, children - every thing they worked for FOR US! What greater sacrifice could another man give to his countrymen? I think there is no greater gift.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
We have so many rights, so many liberties, so many freedoms, I pray we are honorable enough, strong enough, wise enough to keep them! Do you realize, or do your children or grandchildren know, that people in other countries are imprisoned or punished by death for worshiping Jesus Christ? For believing there is only one living God? Some for believing in any god, some for not believing in a god not of their choice? Do you have to believe in our country? No - that too is your right! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Just as the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, as General George Washington and our country men and women believed in, fought for, died for, I for one am grateful each and every day for those who have fought, died and won our battles to keep us free!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio2p5EMrd887V4JAbAObcUphcgbaMmkB1OWVttko3cMpPbLGtOjOeDpD2k90rihxRv1BBDlzvV1UFpc1EU9XFBc9rFRF1uSjmESTFBNxEpFi8QPY7QjAFL5iv9DIUsCuR4m6QO4gesGA/s1600/Flag+w+soldiers+salute.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio2p5EMrd887V4JAbAObcUphcgbaMmkB1OWVttko3cMpPbLGtOjOeDpD2k90rihxRv1BBDlzvV1UFpc1EU9XFBc9rFRF1uSjmESTFBNxEpFi8QPY7QjAFL5iv9DIUsCuR4m6QO4gesGA/s320/Flag+w+soldiers+salute.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
For those who are still in our Military Services, "Thank you for your service to our country. My family and I appreciate you, we thank you for standing on the front lines protecting our freedom, our very way of life." To those families who have someone in the Branches - "Thank you for your service to our country. While not on the front lines, you are the one supporting your service person, keeping the home fires burning, raising the children of soldiers. You and your family make the sacrifice every day for all of us. And please know, my family and I thank you and appreciate you and your sacrifices."<br />
<br />
So - while we are shooting off fireworks, sparklers - gosh that reminds me of when I was three years old - honestly!! Please remember after the BBQ's, time on the beaches, or in the stadiums watching big shows, our country is very fragile right now. We all need to work hard to keep our flag raised, to make sure our freedoms and liberties are not stolen from us one bit at a time, be proud of our country, work hard to keep it free, work with one another. <br />
<br />

Not real ones of course, but flowers, roses and magnolias for my cards! And they are beautiful!! I love making my own cards and altered art projects, but running down to the craft store and picking up a package of 5 to 7 for $5 or more (yes, we always use the 40% off coupons when we have them) but we're limited to color and style at the store!<br />

I've done some online ordering, but this one company looks so good - so I took the plunge! Oh my gosh ~ these roses and flowers are F A B U L O U S!!! <a href="http://www.wildorchidcrafts.com/" style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;">Wild Orchid Crafts</a> ~ a company out of the United Kingdom. Now, before that scares you off thinking, "Oh my gosh, shipping will be a fortune! It's going to take forever to get here! They must be really expensive!" <br />

No, no and no. Shipping is very reasonable, free if you order over a certain amount. It took less than 6 days to get here from the time I ordered to doorstep delivery - ordered on Wednesday night, shipped Thursday morning and arrived on Tuesday in the mail! I can't beat the price with a coupon or a stick! I bought some of these beauties 50 - 1 1/4" roses, for less than $6! And these are all beauties! But, you decide for yourself. I decided for me, and I need to make a bunch of cards so I can place my next order!! he he he!<br />

<br />
Hope to be showing you all some great cards soon! I love making them! I love giving them! Now I'm off to buy ribbon and twine!<br />
<br />
Also, I'm still working on my computer. Seems Chrome, regular Blogger and the rest of the Computer Genies in the sky, are all working to irritate me - not succeeding - I'm just going with the flow on this. Everyone is seeing something different and I don't know why. Just know I'm trying to fix it!!<br />
<br />
Blessings to all!!<br />

Yesterday was my birthday - actually a milestone birthday - so my daughter in law and wee ones came over to celebrate with us! I made a nice dinner (I know, I know - but I love cooking, so it's not a chore for me to do it!!) And Karla made the Cup Cakes!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqcbvJh23tR4ZEAtDTfELq2YjtQzkCjHpFMcR4Bh8wV-VJrgOAmMBtoHYpC5K-o6GbbYN5jqnPeLmwJHsKFAgd0fKKAtRWOcyqvsr8Wa_QGwgxBvmORo8gKVPJfSsu2wQZ_9ulP8wRwA/s1600/2012+My+Birthday+cupcakes!+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqcbvJh23tR4ZEAtDTfELq2YjtQzkCjHpFMcR4Bh8wV-VJrgOAmMBtoHYpC5K-o6GbbYN5jqnPeLmwJHsKFAgd0fKKAtRWOcyqvsr8Wa_QGwgxBvmORo8gKVPJfSsu2wQZ_9ulP8wRwA/s320/2012+My+Birthday+cupcakes!+001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Karla always makes the cutest cup cakes, they are honestly a gift themselves!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
And of course, how do you decorate for Grandma?<br />
<br />
Why ~ a garden of course! Wait til you see these up close!<br />

And, three peas in a pod, again using taffy, frosting and sour balls! Aren't they just the cutest?!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgct_VayI0xo8wviqlUegEGEq0Kn8S9Eo_Jc5JGOCmz4_iECgxx1FHuVM6CCIzxmCvrPwrmmHaP7x_hyjr2wy8TpphieKrmgO0y6uVK2T1sF-pIauQi0-GWjDZaYat2qsuR6z2N0xvkHA/s1600/2012+My+Birthday+cupcakes%2521+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgct_VayI0xo8wviqlUegEGEq0Kn8S9Eo_Jc5JGOCmz4_iECgxx1FHuVM6CCIzxmCvrPwrmmHaP7x_hyjr2wy8TpphieKrmgO0y6uVK2T1sF-pIauQi0-GWjDZaYat2qsuR6z2N0xvkHA/s320/2012+My+Birthday+cupcakes%2521+003.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
And, while the cup cakes are the cutest, these three little ones are the apple of my eye!<br />
<br />
I love how Karla makes these, because she puts a thin layer of frosting on them to help them adhere, not a ton, so you can actually eat the entire cup cake! They picked out a lovely card, it honestly brought tears to my eyes, as did my Sweetie's!<br />
<br />
They only stayed one night - Bible Study Camp was having an evening of fun tonight they were so excited to get to - "Nerd Night!"<br />

<span style="background-color: white;">As you can see, at least I hope you can - Lord knows these days with Blogger - there are a few changes with my blog! First the color ~ it's a bit brighter, used a different script, honestly I haven't figured out what else!</span><br />
<br />
I fixed dinner, my Sweetie and I watched a program, then he went back to work and I looked at my blog, and honestly - thought I was on someone else's page - IT WAS BLUE!! With blue writing, barely seen through the blue on blue background. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcDTWy4N0Ua3nxKIOMe5DrT7owzSwJdZt4Ps2dBjy0rGwUoQFDxKMdt6Vl4XjogKjKMExwdW6nx6Mor2q1drfmrFc8n9RLCJB7Yrb-nuAaq5O7ZKJDHOMSUffGBuWVRDfoEuHqAIKAgw/s1600/butterflies+blue+clip+art--graphicsfairy007a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="210" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcDTWy4N0Ua3nxKIOMe5DrT7owzSwJdZt4Ps2dBjy0rGwUoQFDxKMdt6Vl4XjogKjKMExwdW6nx6Mor2q1drfmrFc8n9RLCJB7Yrb-nuAaq5O7ZKJDHOMSUffGBuWVRDfoEuHqAIKAgw/s320/butterflies+blue+clip+art--graphicsfairy007a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">So, what's a girl to do? Well, I don't know - so I went in and of course with the new Blogger, nothing is the same in the design section (that's the inside part for those like me who know nothing about the design section!) so I tinkered around for a half an hour, said darn, and saved what I had tinkered with and tried to fix. </span><br />
<br />
However, it's a bit blinding now. My original color is gone from the back ground selection. So, tomorrow I will take another look in daylight and see if it's still blinding, or if it's just because I'm tired and frustrated. I will go over to the blogger I introduced you all to a few posts back - she has some great tutorials. So, I'll be looking at her blog, AGAIN!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGUk9MfYMdhTPze8ErQsr4mYMHMEq4NecfMvwSe-UQ6yymTUU6NoD0Fy6D9xYi7Ih4Qwf9AmGnDUZWCQoeFBqtDrNwFRuO5m84aZPZ2boKNGKlbnjlbyxZiAM1ahWYqBgEcODx5hHR2g/s1600/Sneaky+Momma.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGUk9MfYMdhTPze8ErQsr4mYMHMEq4NecfMvwSe-UQ6yymTUU6NoD0Fy6D9xYi7Ih4Qwf9AmGnDUZWCQoeFBqtDrNwFRuO5m84aZPZ2boKNGKlbnjlbyxZiAM1ahWYqBgEcODx5hHR2g/s320/Sneaky+Momma.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
May I ask - has anyone else had this problem??<br />
<br />
Also, what do you think of the changes I did make??<br />
<br />
Who better to ask than friends who look at my page from the other side?<br />
<br />
I hope you all had a wonderful start to a marvelous week! I have seen so many blogs reminding us, "It's only six months til Christmas!" I don't know about you, but I'm not running out to do any Christmas shopping. I will admit, I look for those special gifts for those special people all year long, but with birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, Easter, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Veteran's Day, Flag Day, I just love you days - I'll still need to go shopping in time for Christmas! But, thanks to all who are reminding us - now I guess we'll start to see countdown clocks!<br />
<br />
HAPPY JUNE everyone!<br />
Lots of hugs,<br />
Donna<br />
<br />
PS I just added the images throughout my post and the original color popped back on my screen - I'm really confused. I guess it will just be a surprise each time?? Don't know what to think - I haven't a clue - maybe it will be a rainbow tomorrow. I changed it to my favorite colors, though a bit bright - pinks! Oh heavens!!<br />
<br />
PPSS Sneaky Momma - I'll be at your blog as soon as I can in the morning - now, after deleting some spaces, I've ended up with highlighting blocks around the paragraphs under the images - really - oh heavens!!</div>Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04820226405463372952noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8239627301208195824.post-80624019627889412292012-06-22T22:27:00.000-07:002012-06-22T22:27:06.541-07:00Grandma, Grandma - Let's Go Harvest!!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Oh my goodness, I can hear her now! My grandchildren and daughter in law are coming next week to help me celebrate and when she sees the 'fruit on the vine' my little Leila will be grabbing the vegetable basket. I'll need to get a small one. Last year she was so disappointed when we took the big garden basket and had two squash and a tomato or two. She looked up at me, pointed to the basket, and said, "How do we fill it up? Is there more plants somewhere? This is not a harvest!"<br />
<br />
Now - I'm going to show what we have today - and no laughing - it's still a young garden! And, the plants were itty bitty or seeds - so we've come a long way, baby!<br />

We took out over half of this side lawn to use for garden and trees. In the background are our 4 Citrus Trees. We have babied them for over 4 years, and this is their first time out in the elements.<br />

I know it looks like I may have gone overboard with the squash plants, but last year we had some that just didn't make it. The weather again this year is crazy! Near 100 last week - barely 80 tomorrow! Here are the 2 Zucchini and 2 Yellow Crookneck! So, I over planted - a little.<br />

The Peach Tree is growing and getting very sturdy. The new Blueberry looks great, too! And it even has several of these. Not enough for a pie, not even for a tart, but enough for Grandpa and Wee One to see if they are tasty!<br />

Some times I need a card in a hurry. I like to keep a stash of cards I make myself. All I have to then is print up a sentiment on a piece of paper, or vellum (my favorite), stick it down and Tad-ah! All done!<br />
<br />
But, when I need one for an extra special person or occasion, then it's back the table!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEismC6D89Jo-6Osn6Nvw-EZSAxPvkJuyFGgx7VmjwuUSTRkU57MCCOieikSvfQFMleLqvU79Du4bXJ60MNWZdj978bKCFj0lLwDIz-cG9hyphenhyphenwn5mEcI7xL637Rs2tk1GHouD5yktoqFUpQ/s1600/Cards+for+Genevieve+and+Virginia+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEismC6D89Jo-6Osn6Nvw-EZSAxPvkJuyFGgx7VmjwuUSTRkU57MCCOieikSvfQFMleLqvU79Du4bXJ60MNWZdj978bKCFj0lLwDIz-cG9hyphenhyphenwn5mEcI7xL637Rs2tk1GHouD5yktoqFUpQ/s400/Cards+for+Genevieve+and+Virginia+008.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
I need a little of this - yep, a few little fluffy feathers!<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
OK, OK ~ a little cheesy maybe - the inside was much better. This was for a Grand Dame, one of my fellow Daughters of the American Revolution sisters, just as an appreciation for all of the work she has done, along with her sister, for the last 30+ years! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This one is for her sister, who is our worker bee - well - she's 10 worker bee's all rolled in to one, that's for sure! Actually, she brought her sister in to the organization! How old are they, you ask? Her sister, the Grand Dame will say, "Well, Dear, you never ask a lady her age, don't you know? But if you must, I'll be 28 or so again this year!"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi16qmpZ5PbAnU9tqKrlFFU7HkcjInEbIy-IDxYkBKC8xnRxpkzjDeDHqKgYHvGsFmPMsir57rd436N_Yp6W1KPttU2UBp561BK0Tk6QONOEJRuQ1_Tzz0HmEVH1CLzLIdNBJFH1mjq3Q/s1600/Cards+for+Genevieve+and+Virginia+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi16qmpZ5PbAnU9tqKrlFFU7HkcjInEbIy-IDxYkBKC8xnRxpkzjDeDHqKgYHvGsFmPMsir57rd436N_Yp6W1KPttU2UBp561BK0Tk6QONOEJRuQ1_Tzz0HmEVH1CLzLIdNBJFH1mjq3Q/s400/Cards+for+Genevieve+and+Virginia+015.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Ribbon with little flowers, a string of pearls, a rosette of lace to house roses and leaves, inked on the edges, and a personalized sentiment in side as I did for her sister. These women are special to all of us in our El Paso de Robles Chapter, NSDAR. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If any one is ever interested in finding out if the are related to an American Revolutionary soldier, nurse, supplier (and many others) and is interested in joining this elite organization, send me an email. I would help you get in touch with someone in your area who would gladly speak with you. It's a lot of hard work to prove your heritage, but very satisfying and rewarding once completing the work!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The weekend is upon us already! Tomorrow is Friday! I hope you all have a wonderful few days planned! What ever you do, be safe and have lots of fun! I know I will!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Hugs and blessings,</div>

<div>
Today was the first day of our canning! Mmmm ~ strawberry season is right on track this year to be spectacular! We live half way between Santa Maria and the Salinas areas where most strawberries are grown. Which means great big, sweet berries are plentiful and very inexpensive! Four pounds for $5 of giant, sweet strawberry's!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuAJ9kusm0V9jBS8Tt-zHDYoTo-AhPc1kuXDqd18mgeiGnbcfOWJFRx7siFs738IwKvbmHiwHfNlS5DmpQ5O2H5pALVPhyILm97RuEhyhjHUkst_cwp0J_V5IIU8U5EXE0fagOPQ17Zg/s1600/Strawberry+Jam+(6-16-12)+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuAJ9kusm0V9jBS8Tt-zHDYoTo-AhPc1kuXDqd18mgeiGnbcfOWJFRx7siFs738IwKvbmHiwHfNlS5DmpQ5O2H5pALVPhyILm97RuEhyhjHUkst_cwp0J_V5IIU8U5EXE0fagOPQ17Zg/s400/Strawberry+Jam+(6-16-12)+003.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
These are 4 pound packages, so you can see how large they are, no green, even on the very bottom tips. They are field ripened and just as sweet as can be. The eight pounds we put up today we had 2 berries that spoiled, 7 that were a bit too bruised for the jam, so we just ate them, and the rest - well they cooked up to 7 pint jars, and 1 half pint jar!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUqMUzxHv17adxgVV6FwuWLbabp4w9DZPmzBp4H8RLonFCj7GJCCJpQV7UWsvxje6LzknZ2UOKptEFcaUw9nyu6E2O4WUdSeOplW8P-PbeJRw7w8dCv6ENDpM5Bpe8aEbzdQD5Ty9c9w/s1600/Strawberry+Jam+(6-16-12)+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUqMUzxHv17adxgVV6FwuWLbabp4w9DZPmzBp4H8RLonFCj7GJCCJpQV7UWsvxje6LzknZ2UOKptEFcaUw9nyu6E2O4WUdSeOplW8P-PbeJRw7w8dCv6ENDpM5Bpe8aEbzdQD5Ty9c9w/s400/Strawberry+Jam+(6-16-12)+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
I thought there would be more ~ you too? Well, I forgot a pint does take a pound of fruit. We got to taste a bit left on the bottom of the pot - oh yummyness heaven!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today we made a double batch at once. Holy strawberries did that take a long time to bring to a boil! Normally I do half pint jars because I gift so many (one year I even made 1/2 CUP sizes - total waste of a good jar and time!) So tomorrow - I have 18 half pint jars to do! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7dudq5e1y_0wByZSvZiB9XgZhYxyRDjZJKhyphenhyphenEEDw_g-_Hv-SlGyUautM6VXYvA3tQpsHPpXA4TfF_c569xKfKNSgLXcbj27pEnUBEfiVxMIV1VL_SqJWJ1IYUb1EEDfbjIwaJgREa6w/s1600/Strawberry+Jam+(6-16-12)+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7dudq5e1y_0wByZSvZiB9XgZhYxyRDjZJKhyphenhyphenEEDw_g-_Hv-SlGyUautM6VXYvA3tQpsHPpXA4TfF_c569xKfKNSgLXcbj27pEnUBEfiVxMIV1VL_SqJWJ1IYUb1EEDfbjIwaJgREa6w/s400/Strawberry+Jam+(6-16-12)+001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'll make one batch at a time to speed up the process. I know - it does sound backward.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, what about you? Do any of you can your own veggies or fruit? Do you make jams or jellies? I'm growing lots of beets, hoping to can those this year!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Oh my gosh!! I just remembered!! For Christmas, our youngest son and daughter in law bought us a food dehydrator and I think it's time to crack the box and learn to make fruit roll ups, or dried fruit! Oh yum - now I can hardly wait for mangoes to come in to season! Dried mangoes are just soooo, so so good! As a matter of fact, mango jam, roll ups - frozen. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
Oh my, I'd better get going - I need to get the dehydrator how to book out and read it in bed tonight! So, nightie night!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Blessing to all!</div>
<div>
Hugs,</div>

Yesterday, my Sweetie and I went up to Monterey to meet with friends and colleagues, I did a bit of craft shopping and then out for seafood dinner in Moss Landing, California (half way between Santa Cruz and Monterey).<br />
<br />
I love visiting Beverly's Fabrics and Crafts as we don't really have a local fabric shop in town. When I do get up to the Salinas area, I visit the store. As I walked in, I noticed they had a few clearance tables set up and I took a quick gander. The manager, Marilyn, said, "Donna, grab one of those bags and fill it up with anything you want, as much as you can fit in, for only $7.99." I thought, right, probably worse than junk, as it wasn't the first day of the sale. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGtfxByD9x3b_gvjCev7sGZ5U4B206uWjna84OpSpYLwqcyYyJ2bhPXsi6rsu80sQAihz0OZz7fr97MGS30P-Se4m3H27mzvxyGCIL2lfyimDg3Ptxm7hRlAspP1LdeEiweJ5qoolOhw/s1600/Great+Buy+By+the+Bag+(6-12-12)+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGtfxByD9x3b_gvjCev7sGZ5U4B206uWjna84OpSpYLwqcyYyJ2bhPXsi6rsu80sQAihz0OZz7fr97MGS30P-Se4m3H27mzvxyGCIL2lfyimDg3Ptxm7hRlAspP1LdeEiweJ5qoolOhw/s400/Great+Buy+By+the+Bag+(6-12-12)+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">7"x11"x13" sized bag</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
After checking the fabric upstairs, which was a bust this trip on fabric, I again took a look at the clearance tables, and this time, Marilyn handed me the bag and said, "Just look - see if you find anything!" Well, like all of you, among my favorite words are <i>clearance </i>and <i>sale</i>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6u6YFu-p3z0_oDoTOu8_BQGExHuRIVOPZBLD9iATjvBWCR4SptXxuVliJaFEU8mv6kszKytXEF0JHEX6ZDI8GME65XsQkimyaKOF248lKNO4ffv5ceH6bGxWB9Q5qB3NSgyGKQlfrEw/s1600/Great+Buy+By+the+Bag+(6-12-12)+005-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6u6YFu-p3z0_oDoTOu8_BQGExHuRIVOPZBLD9iATjvBWCR4SptXxuVliJaFEU8mv6kszKytXEF0JHEX6ZDI8GME65XsQkimyaKOF248lKNO4ffv5ceH6bGxWB9Q5qB3NSgyGKQlfrEw/s400/Great+Buy+By+the+Bag+(6-12-12)+005-1.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
At first, I found some buttons, couple of stamp pads, but not much - then Marilyn said, "All these tables." I asked, "Anything? As long as it fits?" "YEP!"<br />
<br />
OK Ladies, who know what happens next right? Now it's almost as if it's a challenge that we fill this bag up with as much junk, I mean stuff, that makes it worth filling up this bag and paying that ginormous price of $7.99! Challenge on!! And, let me tell you, I usually get quite a bargain, but this time I honestly hit pay dirt!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPBF09i9mZpqa2FTAI4FK8SNH8mRkP-HzAPo13sA4T8YlSo-Wjv8_ZVEc2eL0FqLBxAFugtMUkEGck7VffWUjOzgBhNEX6w9yQ3nRF3YlAwjmwLYBQZH57ZbtnW8BYuJmQZp9zbmDgoA/s1600/Great+Buy+By+the+Bag+(6-12-12)+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPBF09i9mZpqa2FTAI4FK8SNH8mRkP-HzAPo13sA4T8YlSo-Wjv8_ZVEc2eL0FqLBxAFugtMUkEGck7VffWUjOzgBhNEX6w9yQ3nRF3YlAwjmwLYBQZH57ZbtnW8BYuJmQZp9zbmDgoA/s400/Great+Buy+By+the+Bag+(6-12-12)+009.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really made out. When my Sweetie came by to pick me up, he went to grab the bag by the handles and oops - took two hands to pick up my monster bag! Yep, those pots are terracotta garden pots! Two are 8 1/2" wide by 7 1/2 high, two are 6" x 5 1/2 and one is 7 x 6 1/2. I nested three in one stack, two in the other. Then I filled them both with tons of buttons and jewelry parts and pieces. Put the first one in, stacked the books in on the side, along with the stamp blocks, adding more all around the pots. The second pot went in on its side with more stuff stacked all around. Well, I was close to being full, but reminded we needed to meet friends for dinner, so I took my bag and headed to the check out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Off to Moss Landing. It's a nice drive along Hwy 1 right next to the Pacific Coast. The weather was blue skies and clear, but a tad on the chilly side (it is along the coast!) I always have to get close to the sea animals and take pictures!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think this is some kind of boat dock or something. There is a walkway down to the area, but it's locked up tight right now. These are all male Harbor Seals. The females are all still in the San Diego area. My Sweetie walked down with me all the way down to the end, I wanted to see the baby where the big, fat grandpa seal was barking! This walkway is SOLID Harbor Seals!! Hundreds and hundreds. I don't know if it was getting close to eating time or because many of us had ventured down closer to them - but they started barking - LOUDLY!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This big guy started barking and the little one fell off! After several attempts, right up on Grandpa's back. I don't know why they don't get squished!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They are really piled 4 or 5 seals on top of each other all the was down the dock! So, all the while we're trying not to step on the sea gull poop to get photos, and these guys stink to high heaven!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj39S_QT-5860pfcaEgdifwzvmSFCfb7yDbHjDshgrcg2TH11ciSjhNk9r5uHiAL5aXUPZS0pxPF2c_2WgzyE_332UNUqc0QgbOhc9KBOkJtZF8dg1yriblxEBvSLc77OaT16ABaYWsxQ/s1600/Habor+Seals+and+Otters+020-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj39S_QT-5860pfcaEgdifwzvmSFCfb7yDbHjDshgrcg2TH11ciSjhNk9r5uHiAL5aXUPZS0pxPF2c_2WgzyE_332UNUqc0QgbOhc9KBOkJtZF8dg1yriblxEBvSLc77OaT16ABaYWsxQ/s400/Habor+Seals+and+Otters+020-1.jpg" width="381" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then along come the cutest of the ocean critters! The Sea Otter!! She would come up and rub and roll her hands together like she was washing! Then dove down and got dinner and a rock and slammed them together! Then she did the entire process again! I just love them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So this was my Tuesday! I had lots of fun, love seeing the Ocean and know how blessed we are to live so close to the Coast! Oh - I forgot to tell you how much my $7.99 bag would have cost at retail - as near as I can tell. Some items no longer had the original tag, so I used the sale price that was on them - ready???</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A WHOPPING $773.00</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
plus the bag was $1.99</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, right around $775.00</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not too shabby,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
not too shabby at all!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Blessings to all,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hugs,</div>

Most of us know and love Cindy Adkins and the wonderful work she has done. If you don't know her - let me introduce her to you. If you know her, and wonder, "where has Cindy been?" well, I've got an answer for you!<br />
<br />
She has struck out on a new venture of her writing. Amazingly, an entirely new Young Adult Christian Fiction series of novellas, <i><b><a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_953205666">'</a></b></i><i style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="http://cindyadkinsbooks.com/">The Valley Meadows Series.'</a> </i><br />
<br />
There's a brand new <a href="http://cindyadkinsbooks.com/">website</a> to visit and review all of her books, and trust me when I tell you, you will fall in love with these new books! This is the perfect time for them, too! Summer is here, teens and young adults are looking for something new to read - something inspirational. Why not start out with Hailey's Heart?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE1zvxIVXuDaLNXoPBI1OCk9qGC_wBYxEUX-MHSJytacGmr8IWGsNq2Aa9JQs6Vgl5ufIIzl9wQRV-IOyZo8KW2FB7K-c9wc47TM4HOwb7mG5v72aUvJBhpSpbzHnkbNmb3S3tqfVKYw/s1600/Hailey_s_Heart.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE1zvxIVXuDaLNXoPBI1OCk9qGC_wBYxEUX-MHSJytacGmr8IWGsNq2Aa9JQs6Vgl5ufIIzl9wQRV-IOyZo8KW2FB7K-c9wc47TM4HOwb7mG5v72aUvJBhpSpbzHnkbNmb3S3tqfVKYw/s400/Hailey_s_Heart.jpg" width="272" /></a></div>
This book along with the additional two in the series, and the other, <b><i>yes other,</i></b> new books you will find on the new <a href="http://cindyadkinsbooks.com/">website</a> are fantastic!<br />
<br />
Thank you, Cindy, for all you do for all of us! Authors who touch us, are a rare breed. They work, work, work, and trust me when I tell you, Cindy has been putting her all into these books. Give a shout out to her, let her know you love her, visit her new website. She may not be able to answer back - trust me she has been putting in many 16 + hours a day on writing, designing and trying to stay well. But, your encouragement and prayers will give her strength to continue doing what she loves, writing, creating, giving back!<br />
<br />
Wishing you much success and may you be blessed, as much as you bless others, Cindy!<br />
<br />
Hugs to all!<br />

What's For Dinner?<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Oh my gosh, got home too late last night for dinner. Had a light bite to eat and then laid down for a bit and I was out like a light! This morning I didn't wake up until 11:20 am - can you believe it!!?? No little arms or legs flopping all over me all night, all cozy in my nice bed. How is it our bodies know when we're home? I don't know, but mine knew last night and I slept like a rock!!<br />
<br />
Friday, Karla got the children up early and they all went to Yosemite with family from out of town ~<br />

I'm sure they had a lovely day, home with mom later, before off the next day for a bid weekend in SoCal at the Amusement Parks! Lovely to entertain!<br />
<br />
What's that I hear??? Drat - no little voices, no needing drinks or dinner, sure do miss them after we leave each others company. But, I'm home with my Sweetie, and we keep each other company. The best thing?? I'll be back with them when mom and dad go on vacation and stay with them for two weeks!<br />
<br />
Thank you all for your comments regarding Jill's Sneaky Momma's tutorial blog! She's great. I know we have many friends that have tutorials, and we thank all of you too. But, this gal has really taken a lot of time organizing and putting up tutorials for those of us who (hate to say it this way) are like beginning, beginners! That's me. And, from some of the comments I've gotten, some of my friends have enjoyed the plain English and the pictorial images she uses.<br />
<br />
Bought more plants today - oh yeah - more gardening! And, we followed the instructions on mixing to soil additives for the plants in the ground we planted the last couple of weeks from a gardening expert at the Nursery, only to find it's burning them and we need to dig them up yet one more time - three times now - so this should do it, don't you think!? So, that's our Sunday! Hope you all had a happy Saturday and enjoy the day tomorrow!<br />
<br />
Hugs to you all,<br />
